Extensive research is being conducted on the use of particleboard as alternative to lumber products. This is further evidenced by the formation of several straws-to-board businesses that provide consulting, equipment and board production. The PCBI is producing a particleboard out of the Gmelina tree. This is the first of its kind and there is the necessity, to characterize the particleboard made of Gmelina tree as to its mechanical properties.
