A mechanical operated durian fruit opener machine is designed, developed, and tested to solve problems on post harvest equipment by small scale traders and fruit processors. The findings reveal that: (1) It is feasible to construct a mechanical durian fruit opener because the materials are available in the local market, (2) The durian fruit opener machine is very useful for small scale fruit processors to make opening operations easier, (3) Production cost of the durian fruit opener machine is very affordable for small-time durian traders, (4) The machine so designed is useful to other crops with similar breaking or splitting operation, and (5) A durian fruit opener machine can be automated for mass production purposes for use by big-time durian traders and exporters.
