This particular issue prints only the first of a four-part series covering the period 1989 to 1914. It gives a brief account of American pioneers in Davao, starting with Captain James L. Burchfield in 1899, the assassination of Bolton, the visit of Forbes in a plantation in Lais, Davao del Sur, and the entry of the Japanese. The fourth part covers the war years. The second and third parts cover the in-between years.
