Crustacean resources

Annotation

This portion of the resource and ecological assessment of Panguil Bay assesses the status of crustacean fishery in the Bay in 1991. Estimates on growth, mortality and stock dynamics based on length-frequency data are made using the Compleat ELEFAN Software Package Version 1.1, while the yield and biomass are determined using the FISAT Software Package Program. Results of the study reveal that the crustacean fishery in Panguil Bay is supported by nine species of shrimps and five species of crabs. However, only three species of shrimps - Penaeus monodon (sugpo/pansat), Metapenaeus ensis (bagal) and Penaeus merguiensis (lunhan), and one species of crab, Scylla serrata (alimango) are relatively abundant with high market value.
