Biology of Boerhaavia erecta L

Annotation

Findings reveal that the highest germination (GP) is attained on unsterilized soil while zero germination is obtained on sterilized soil. B. erecta increases GP when sown on unsterilized soil and exposed to red light. The same is comparable among treatments subjected to different concentrations of H2SO4 and increases from 8-32 percent with fifty ppm KNO3 concentration. Seeds were dormant at harvest but when stored for eight weeks, the germination was 60.6 percent. GP decreases as planting depth increases. Flowering start at the sixth leaf stage when plants are seventeen days old. Petals drop off one day after blooming and seeds set follow. Flower and seed production cease at 120 days.
