The study shows that the egg of cacao pod borer has an inoculation period of 6-8 days with shiny and yellowish coloration when newly laid but changes to orange to light brown before hatching. Red wrinkled cultivars are more preferred by the cacao pod borer for oviposition and feeding. Wrinkled cultivars have more damaged pod borer. Higher incidence of the borer is observed during the months of June, July and August compared with other months of the year. Polyethylenebags are the best bagging materials for pods to control the borer.
