This article clarifies that arsenic is not caused by the drilling operation of PNOC (Philippine National Oil Company) considering that the symptoms experienced by the residents, such as dizziness and itchiness, have been manifested long before the start of the drilling project. There is no debate on the presence or absence of arsenic in the Matingao and Marbol rivers in North Cotabato as all data point to the fact that there is arsenic (in two rivers). What needs to be done is to locate the source and check if it is within tolerable levels.
