This is an investigation on the indigenous culture of the Maranaos, enumerating the different Maranao customs which seem peculiar to the Christian population, extolling the indigenous practices of the Maranaos. Findings show that most of the practices indigenous to Maranao culture and different from those practiced by the non-Muslim Filipinos are those sanctioned by the Islamic faith. Among the recommendations stressed by the author is to have more schools run by Maranaos themselves who are in a position to determine which is their culture and traditions are worth preserving. On the other hand, doing away with some practices like polygamy, divorce and slavery are also proposed.
