Provides baseline data for the development of IEC materials (leaflet and brochure) for promoting breastfeeding in the area, and evaluate the effectiveness of the IEC package using the following indicator: (1) changes in the knowledge and attitudes after exposure to the IEC package, (2) extent of breastfeeding practices (incidence and duration of breastfeeding) and, (3) the relationship between selected socio-demographic variables and practice of breastfeeding among the respondents.
