The Bukidnon of Negros are classified under Aeta and forest/hill peoples. According to sildap-Sidlakan, "the Bukidnon Negros and Iloilo are distinctly Malay hill tribes in the Visayas. They are generally kaingin farmers and dry rice cultivators. They subsist mainly through farming and supplement their diet by hunting and fishing and by gathering rattan for the market. However, much of the ancestral lands of the tribes people have been occupied by longging and mining companies and by lowland settlers for the past fifty years.
