Abstract / Excerpt:
The Blaans are tribal Filipinos who arre among the residents of Little Baguio, Malita, Davao del Sur. Like other tribal groups, they have their own literature expressed in the form of myths, legends, folktales, and others that display their unique culture. To a considerable degree, these reflect the simple activities in their early communities. Their religious beliefs, social relationships, love, friendships, and enmities also determine the expression in many of their unforgettable tales.Their oral narratives, handed down by word of mouth, reveal their values, sentiments, aspirations, and traditions which they highly cherish as a tribe.
