The Philippines is one of the most important biodiversity hotspots on earth. This paper reviews research on forest vegetation in the Philippines conducted particularly since 1990, identified using modern search technologies such as the internet and scientific online databases. Philippine forest vegetation is still poorly represented in international research compared to other tropical rainforest areas. Only three recent species checklists or enumerations were identified for the whole of the Philippines , one for the island of Cebu, one for Palawan, and one for Cabra Isletin Occidental Mindoro.
