Abstract / Excerpt:
The decades of the fifties and the sixties bear witness to the rapid rate of urbanization in most countries ofthe world, with marked differences between developed and less-developed countrifes. In the latter, the urbanization process has been characterized by the raging growth of cities caused by the phenomenon of massive and historically unprecedented movements of people from the rural countryside to the burgeoning cities.
