Abstract:
The gross value of agricultural production during the fourth quarter of2015amountedtoP448.0 billion at current prices.This was 6.64percent lower than the 2014level.
The value of production of total agricultural crops amounted toP259.7billion at current prices, recording an 11.05percent contraction during the period.Gross value of palay output went down by 17.87percent as a result of decreases in both production and price. The same reason was cited for the decline in the gross output values of corn by 14.63percent, mango by 10.57percentand garlic by 97.84 percent. Reduced prices pulled down gross output values of coconut by 9.13 percent,banana by 0.95 percent and cassava by 29.13 percent. Sugarcane recorded another drop in gross output at 2.28percent this year due to reduced production. Lower output and price caused the continued decrease in the gross value of rubber production and the fourth quarter of 2015 registered a29.09 percent decline.
