Abstract:
The Philippines is a low middle income country located in Southeast Asia (GDP per capita: USD 2,370). It is one of the most populous countries in the world with a population of 92.3 million as of 2010. With an annual growth rate of 1.9 percent, the number of Filipinos is expected to reach 112 million by 2020 (National Statistics Office).
In the National Capital Region (NCR), the poverty incidence is 2.9 percent compared to 38.1 percent of the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) (National Statistical Coordination Board, 2009). The disparity of resources also reflects the high inequality in many health outcomes.
