Abstract:
An observational study of consecutive deliveries using a standardized assessment tool to document minute-by-minute newborn care done in the first hour of life was undertaken in 51 hospitals in nine regions of the country in 2008. The study found that Philippine hospital practices prevented newborns from benefiting from their mothers’ natural protection in the first hour of life.
