Abstract:

Lack of development in the region has also meant that these areas have remained predominantly agricultural, lacking the diversified and differentiated economic activities found in real more developed areas. Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry account for 49% of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in ARMM (taken as a whole), 37% in Region IX (Western Mindanao), 31 % in Region XII (Central Mindanao), and 30% in Region XI (Southwestern Mindanao), compared to 15% for the Philippines as a whole. Conversely, Industry accounts for just 11 % of GDP in ARMM and 19% in Region IX.
