Abstract:
Following over four decades of armed conflict in the autonomous region in Muslim Mindanao, efforts at building a sustainable peace are well underway. In October 2012 a preliminary peace agreement was signed between the Government of the Philip - pines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). It calls for the establishment of a new autonomous entity- the Bangsamoro, which fulfills the Muslim majority Moro people’s demand for self-determination. Today, several areas of Mindanao remain affected by violence, weak governance and unemployment. Throughout the transition process, the WBG through the KTF have remained engaged to address these challenges and build a sustainable peace.
