Abstract / Excerpt:
Objectives: This study determines how frequent our local journalists use exist language and identifies some common sexist language used by the local journalist.
Methodology: Content analysis was conducted in this study.
Conclusions: The study discovered that there were words commonly used as gender biased. The most commonly used sexist language as taken from the variables are as follows: Ignoring or dismissing women, by using male terms as prefix and suffix; Categorizing men and women according to their occupation and role; and using male terms generally, such as men/man, his/he/him.
