Abstract / Excerpt:

This study focused on the level of awareness and satisfaction as well as the attitude of residents in Barangay San Francisco, Panabo City in terms of planning of health programs, health personnel and delivery of basic services. It also established the socio-demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex and educational attainment. The highlights of the study are as follows: more than half of the respondents attained elementary education, are males, either married or single and between 21 to 30 years old; barangay residents of Brgy. San Francisco, Panabo City are aware of the health programs, personnel services and the basic health services of the Local Government of Panabo; are satisfied in-terms of Health programs, personnel assistance and the delivery of basic health facilities and services of the Local Government Unit; are agreeable that the functional health board and the active Barangay health workers are within their reach. The recommendations of the study are as follows: to address more effective and efficient Health Programs, personnel and facilities services and other basic health services in Panabo City Government must first change its present municipal organizational structure and adopt a City organizational structure and add health personnel such as doctors, nurses and hire a permanent plantilla of Rural Health Midwives; install more Botika ng Barangay in the locality of Panabo; prioritize health budget and ensure sufficient funds for its operations; health ordinances and resolution shall be properly observed and appropriately be implemented.
